The Victoria and Albert Museum is in the middle of a ten year programme called FuturePlan that aims to modernise its twelve and a half acres of exhibition space in South Kensington. ISIS is currently rolling out its Aspects™ ARTS solution across the whole museum.
A new gallery of church silver and stained glass opened to the world's press in Rooms 83 and 84 on 24 November 2005 - these rooms contain around 300 pieces from the national collection of silver, from spectacular medieval reliquaries to austere contemporary chalices. ISIS integrated specially adapted monitoring tags into the new display cases, detecting open and close state as well as attack on the cases.
The Aspects™ ARTS software has been integrated with the building security system, the CCTV camera system, gallery sounders, and a recently introduced pager system. Staff even carry integrated panic attack tags.
Rob Green, ISIS MD, commented "This installation has been designed and implemented in close partnership with the V & A, and our principal hardware suppliers. By understanding the V & A's specific requirements, and delivering the utmost quality, reliability and consistency in art-protection hardware, we have built arguably the most sophisticated museum security system in the world."
